Monroe County Reassessment
**Please note: We’re experiencing a high volume of public reviews, which may slow down the site. Thanks for your patience—please check back later. **
Monroe County has contracted Tyler Technologies to conduct a countywide property reassessment. This reassessment is subsequent to the previous reassessment in 2020 to ensure assessments continue to follow the guidelines of IAAO standards. The reassessment project includes data gathering, verification of data, the establishment of assessed values, and an opportunity to appeal. The Monroe County reassessment project will conclude by 2028.
As part of the County’s Tax Reassessment Project, Monroe County Assessment staff are conducting data collection throughout the County. The field assessors will always be wearing a Monroe County-issued polo along with a badge of identification. They will knock, identify themselves if someone is home, and inform the occupant of the reason for their visit. They will be measuring the exterior of homes and will never ask to enter a home.
Property owners will be receiving data mailer postcards with QR codes on or around December 18, 2025. Follow the instructions on the post card to review your property characteristics and to make any updates to your data. For more information, please review our FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS sheet and check back for updates as the project progresses.
Happening Now
Tyler Technologies staff will begin reviewing more than 100,000 parcels from the County’s current records by desktop review. Monroe County Assessment Staff will begin field collection on parcels with changes to current records on or around 9/1/2025, measuring improvements, and collecting data regarding interior of homes and businesses. The data collected will allow our teams to accurately value each and every parcel throughout the county.
As data collection is completed, postcards from Monroe County Assessment office with QR codes will be sent to owners of improved residential parcels in three (3) batches. Postcards are not sent out for vacant land or commercial or industrial parcels. The first set of postcards will be mailed on or around December 18, 2025, and will continue to be mailed through March 2026.
When you receive your postcard, we ask that you scan the QR code to review the information for accuracy and to report any errors to Monroe County Assessment office via the website listed on the postcard. Property owners should review the data, comparing it to their property. If the information is correct, there is no need to do anything further. If the information is incorrect, owners should update any changes needed to the online form and submit it signed, dated, and with contact information within 14 days. A glossary of terms can be found on the website under Need Help? to help property owners understand the information within the mailer postcard site.
If you own a residential property with a dwelling and have not received a data mailer postcard by May 1, 2026, please notify the Monroe County Assessment office for options on how to review your property information.
Value notices will be sent out at a later date once all data has been reviewed/collected and property owners have had the opportunity to review the data and make any changes necessary. Should you have any questions, you can reach out to the Monroe County Assessment office at 570.517.3133.
Income and Expense postcards will be mailed to commercial/industrial property owners around April 2026. As part of the data collection process for improved commercial and industrial property, Tyler will attempt to acquire lease information for those properties that are typically bought and sold based on capitalized income streams. Tyler will compile, classify and document lease data to support the development of guidelines for estimating value. All information provided will remain strictly confidential. Submissions will ensure that the new assessment reflects the actual economic climate in Monroe County, and how it specifically relates to each property.
